The first floating pickleball court at a residential property and the largest installation of its kind now floats in the middle of a North Miami lagoon.

The new 69-by-33-foot installation is located at SoLé Mia, the 184-acre development by LeFrak and Turnberry between Biscayne Boulevard and Biscayne Bay. And it sits directly on Laguna SoLé, the seven-acre freshwater lagoon at the center of the development. Inflatable Island custom-built the platform, which has a blue playing surface and SoLé Mia branding.

Residents and their guests can use the court for singles or doubles matches, with paddles, balls and life jackets supplied on site.

“We wanted the court to feel specific to SoLé Mia and not like an amenity that could exist anywhere,” said Mario Gaztambide, senior managing director of residential properties at LeFrak. The decision to place it on the lagoon, he explained, was intended to make the water itself part of the experience rather than simply a backdrop.

Outdoor recreation also extends beyond the lagoon. SoLé Mia has expanded The Loop, its network of walking paths, farther across the development, with connections toward Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay campus and Oleta River State Park. Jogging and cycling paths run through additional landscaped areas of the property.

More than 1,000 residents currently live at SoLé Mia across The Shoreline, Villa Solé, Villa Laguna, and ONE Park Tower. The development also includes Reserve Padel, parks, a dog park, and beaches along the lagoon and UHealth SoLé Mia. Additional residences, restaurants, retail, and a charter school are planned as well.
