Former Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello has purchased a $7.95 million townhome at Colette, a new condominium project in Miami’s South Brickell neighborhood. The approximately 4,300-square-foot residence will be used by his family while also becoming part of his real estate holdings in the city.
Barrichello raced in Formula One for 19 seasons, from 1993 through 2011, recording 11 wins and 68 podium finishes across 322 Grand Prix starts. He finished second in the World Drivers’ Championship in 2002 and 2004 while driving for Ferrari and later won championships in both Stock Car Brazil and NASCAR Brazil.

The purchase serves two purposes for Barrichello. He wanted a property his family could use as a home while also considering its value as a longer-term investment.

“What drew me to Colette was its more intimate scale, offering the privacy and comfort of a single-family home with the security and services of a boutique building,” Barrichello said.

The project has already recorded another large transaction. One buyer previously acquired four residences for a reported $15 million, with plans to combine them into two custom duplex townhomes.

The five-story building will contain 34 residences, including two penthouses, with two- to four-bedroom floor plans. Brazilian architecture and design firm OSPA is leading the design.

Shared spaces will range from wellness and recreation areas to facilities for families and residents working from home. Plans include a 50-foot pool and cabanas, spa facilities, a screening room, children’s playroom, meeting spaces, private storage, and covered parking with EV charging.

Colette is expected to be completed in 2028. Demolition began in July, with groundbreaking expected this fall.
