In the Malibou Lakeside community, near the trailheads and open space of Malibu Creek State Park, a newly built home belonging to musicians Chad Cromwell and Windy Wagner has been listed for $2.55 million. The couple’s careers have long moved through the worlds of recording, touring, film, and television.
Cromwell is a veteran drummer known for his work with artists including Neil Young, Mark Knopfler, and Joe Walsh, while Wagner is a session vocalist, songwriter, vocal arranger, and vocal contractor whose credits span major recording artists, film, and television. Together, their work has inspired the home’s creative design.

The home was built after Cromwell and Wagner lost their previous house and studio in the 2018 Woolsey Fire. Rather than recreate what had been there before, the couple used the rebuild as an opportunity to design a more intentional retreat shaped around fire-wise construction, daily comfort, and the ability to keep making music at home.

Located on a quiet, tree-lined street, the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence has a barn-inspired look that feels suited to the Santa Monica Mountains. Inside, hardwood floors, cathedral ceilings, and 25-foot accordion doors framing mountain views make the home feel especially spacious and open.

The main living area is centered around a kitchen built for both everyday use and gathering. Viking appliances, a generous center island, and bar seating make the space functional without losing its warmth.

The music studio is a highlight of the property. Designed as a professional-grade creative space, it can also function as a guest suite or office. Additional features include Sonos sound, Cat 6 wiring, and a two-car garage.

Outside, the grounds are designed to feel relaxed rather than overly staged. Olive trees, roses, and fruit trees frame the property, while multiple lounge areas and a jacuzzi create places to slow down after time on the trails or in the studio. The setting feels secluded, but still connected to Malibu, Calabasas, and Agoura.
