Detroit Jazz Festival

Detroit

Detroit’s reputation as one of the most influential music cities in the U.S. is well-deserved, with a rich history in genres ranging from rock to soul and a legacy of producing legendary artists. This year, the annual Detroit Jazz Festival returns as one of the summer’s most anticipated musical events, bringing thousands of jazz enthusiasts and talented performers to the city.

The festival, a cherished tradition since its inception in 1980, has grown into the world’s largest free jazz festival. This year’s event, scheduled for Labor Day weekend, promises over 60 performances featuring a global lineup of high-profile jazz artists, as well as the talents of many Detroit-based musicians.

The performances will be distributed across four stages throughout Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza, featuring Wendell Harrison and Tribe, the Walter White Big Band, Kyle Eastwood, the Pablo Ziegler Quintet with Roberta Gambarini, and many more. The festival is not just a local celebration; it’s a significant draw for out-of-state visitors, contributing to Detroit’s tourism industry.
