The DFW dining scene has experienced an impressive wave of new establishments reshaping the region’s culinary landscape. From intimate Japanese bistros to sophisticated cocktail lounges, these eight restaurants represent some of the most closely followed debuts across the area this year.

1. Duchess - Fort Worth

Duchess opened this year as the in-house restaurant at The Nobleman Hotel, housed in a restored early-20th-century fire station. Centered on live-fire cooking and Texas-influenced dishes, the restaurant offers seasonally driven menus with an emphasis on thoughtful sourcing. The full-service dining room features a polished setting designed to appeal to both hotel guests and locals.

2. Norman’s Japanese Grill - Dallas

Norman’s Japanese Grill combines a Japanese grill approach with raw-bar and sushi elements. It’s positioned as a neighborhood destination with a high-design dining room and a menu built around shareable plates alongside more substantial grilled options.

3. EVELYN - Dallas

EVELYN opened in March as a steakhouse concept with multiple distinct spaces under one roof. The venue is organized around the Piano Room, the Ruby Room bar, and a late-night lounge called Room Seven, with service that extends later than a traditional dining room on select nights.

4. Waters Edge Winery & Bistro Dallas

Waters Edge Winery & Bistro pairs a wine program with a light bistro menu designed for pairing—such as small plates and snack-style items alongside more filling options like sandwiches and flatbreads. The concept is structured to work for short tastings, casual drop-ins, and longer table time.

5. Stewart’s Croquet & Cocktails - Fort Worth

Stewart’s opened as Chef Tim Love’s cocktail-and-croquet concept in Fort Worth’s River District near the Trinity Trails. Calling itself “a country club for the people,” Stewart’s reimagines a country club lifestyle, with a full bar program, food service, and an on-site croquet lawn.

6. Casa Brasa - Dallas

Casa Brasa opened as Chef Omar Flores’ open-fire concept in the former Nick & Sam’s Grill space. The restaurant is built around live-fire cooking and a broad menu structure that includes an à la carte food menu alongside sushi offerings. The dining room is designed as a statement space, anchored by a prominent central bar, with house guidelines including a dress code.

7. Sylvestro - Dallas

Sylvestro is a small cocktail bar connected to Urbano Café next door. The bar is intentionally compact and operates as a dedicated cocktail space. The concept’s identity is tied to late-1980s inspiration in both atmosphere and menu approach.

8. Hinoki - Frisco

Hinoki opened in Frisco from the team behind Kinzo Sushi. It’s positioned as a more everyday, accessible counterpart to a formal omakase model while still emphasizing seafood-driven Japanese offerings. The restaurant offers a mix of sushi and cooked items, with options that include both individual ordering and a set multi-course format.
