THE PLAYERS Championship returns to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach in March, with tournament week scheduled for March 10–15, and competition rounds running March 12–15. Often referred to as the sport’s “fifth major,” the event sits in a distinct place on the PGA TOUR calendar, pairing a marquee field with a course that routinely shapes the outcome as much as the leaderboard does.
Beginning in 2026, THE PLAYERS will move to a 120-player field, a change the PGA TOUR has tied to broader updates in eligibility and competitive structure. The tournament remains a professional-only field, unlike the majors that include amateurs, and the result is a concentrated lineup of TOUR regulars and top contenders, especially on the Stadium Course, where risk management shifts constantly and small mistakes compound quickly.
At TPC Sawgrass, Pete Dye’s design is defined by angles, water hazards, and greens that reward controlled positioning. The course’s signature feature is the par-3 17th, where the island-green setting compresses risk into a single shot and can turn late-round momentum quickly. This year’s edition also lands 25 years after Tiger Woods’ “Better than most” putt on that green during the 2001 PLAYERS, one of the tournament’s most replayed moments.

Off the course, the tournament is adding a new hospitality element. The PGA TOUR announced Iron & Wedge, a steakhouse that will debut this year and be available exclusively to members of THE PLAYERS Club, the event’s top-tier hospitality program. Across the grounds, premium ticketing and hospitality areas continue to provide indoor space, reserved seating, and food-and-beverage service for spectators who want a fixed base between holes.
For visitors, THE PLAYERS is easiest to navigate with a simple plan: choose a home base for the closing stretch, then take a loop earlier in the day to catch groups at different points around the course before crowds consolidate near the finish. With Ponte Vedra Beach and the greater Jacksonville area close by, the week also fits neatly into a long weekend built around golf, dining, and time along the coast.
