The Residential Golf Landscape

With a climate that allows for year-round play, Southern California is especially appealing to golfers and buyers drawn to outdoor living. Residential options across Orange County and San Diego County range from gated country club communities to neighborhoods located near public, private, and resort courses. Notable Courses and Established Venues

San Diego County is home to several of Southern California’s best-known golf destinations. Torrey Pines, located along the coastal cliffs of La Jolla, is one of the most recognizable public golf destinations in the U.S., with its North and South courses offering two distinct playing experiences. Other established venues, including Aviara Golf Club, Steele Canyon Golf Club, The Grand Golf Club, and Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, add to the county’s strong golf presence. Omni La Costa’s North Course was recently renovated by Gil Hanse, and the property is scheduled to host the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships through 2028.

Orange County also has a wide range of courses that serve both public and private markets. Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast remains one of the area’s most prominent coastal golf destinations, while Newport Beach Country Club continues to draw attention through major events. The club hosted the Hoag Classic in March this year, won by Stewart Cink, and beginning in 2027, it will host the Hoag SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, one of the PGA TOUR Champions’ major championships.
