The Virginia Lake Festival, affectionately known as LakeFest, returns to the picturesque town of Clarksville for its 48th year on July 17-19. Set against the stunning backdrop of Kerr Lake, this beloved annual celebration has grown from a modest community gathering into one of Virginia’s most anticipated summer events. The festival began in 1977, created by local residents to showcase their charming lakeside town and celebrate the natural beauty of southern Virginia.

A Distinguished Regional Reputation

The Virginia Lake Festival has earned considerable recognition throughout the Southeast, consistently ranking among the region’s premier outdoor celebrations. The Southeast Tourism Society has honored LakeFest as “One of the Top 20 Festivals in the Southeast” for multiple consecutive years, a testament to its exceptional organization and authentic community spirit.

What sets the Virginia Lake Festival apart from other regional events is its seamless integration of natural beauty with sophisticated programming. Unlike many festivals that rely solely on commercial entertainment, LakeFest celebrates the authentic character of lake country living while maintaining the refined atmosphere that appeals to discerning visitors. The festival’s lakefront setting provides an unparalleled backdrop that transforms the entire event into an immersive experience rather than simply a collection of activities.
