Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA

The Atlanta Jazz Festival returns to Piedmont Park from May 23–25, bringing its 49th edition back to one of the city’s most recognizable settings. Long a Memorial Day weekend fixture in Atlanta, the festival continues to stand out for the way it pairs a high-level jazz lineup with an open, relaxed atmosphere.

This year’s program unfolds over three days and covers a wide range of styles, balancing established names with newer voices. The Saturday lineup opens with Buddy Red before moving through performances by Aja Monet, Nate Smith, Christian McBride & Ursa Major, and Kamasi Washington. Across Sunday and Monday, artists including Cleveland P. Jones and the Myron McKinley Trio help round out a lineup that moves comfortably between vocal performance, instrumental jazz, and more contemporary sounds.

The festival remains free and open to the public, which has helped make it one of Atlanta’s most widely attended annual cultural events. At the same time, it still manages to feel thoughtfully programmed rather than purely mass-market.
